    Comments

Feininger remained a "Master" at the Bauhaus in Dessau until 1932, then, in 1933, moved to Berlin with his wife Julia from where he was able to leave Nazi Germany for the USA in 1937. From then on he was active as a painter in his native New York

The summer months he spent mostly on the Baltic Sea, first on the island of Rügen, then on Usedom and finally, from 1924-1935, in Deep on the Pomeranian Baltic coast near Kolberg. His "Naturnotizen" were created there, after which he later produced works, but also the wonderful watercolors of maritime life. The work offered here amazes by a sea soaked in a red and the sailing ships illuminated in a yellow in the evening sun.
