Commentaires

"Don't wake them! Sleep is perhaps the only consolation for these unfortunates." Following Ayala's interpretation, Goya depicts a dull sleep of anaesthesia, which contrasts with the artist's dreamy sleep in print 43.

"Weckt sie nicht! Der Schlaf ist vielleicht der einzige Trost dieser Unglücklichen." Folgt man Ayalas Interpretation, stellt Goya einen dumpfen Schlaf der Betäubung dar, der im Kontrast zum Traum-Schlaf des Künstlers in Blatt 43 steht.
