Commentaires

The subject comes from a painting that Le Corbusier created in 1924 for the Pavillon des L'Esprit Nouveau at the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. He repeated the motif in sketches and watercolours between 1924 and 1953. Numerous everyday objects are depicted, such as bottles, carafes, glasses, pipes and egg cups. In 1924, Le Corbusier commented on a similar subject as follows: "This composition belongs to the architectural cycle. I accept being called an "architect who paints".

Das Sujet stammt von einem Gemälde, dass Le Corbusier 1924 für den Pavillon des L'Esprit Nouveau auf der Ausstellung Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs in Paris schuf. Er wiederholte das Motiv zwischen 1924 und 1953 in Skizzen und Aquarellen. Dargestellt sind zahlreiche Gebrauchsgegenstände, wie Flaschen, Karaffen, Gläser, Pfeifen, Eierbecher. 1924 äusserte sich Le Corbusier zu einem ähnlichen Sujet wie folgt: "Diese Komposition gehört zum Architekturzyklus. Ich akzeptiere, dass man mich als "Architekt, der Malerei betreibt" bezeichnet.".
