Commentaires

Designed and cast in 1957 in an edition of twelve with two test casts.

The "Reclining Figures" have been part of Henry Moore's repertoire of forms since the end of 1929. In May 1955, Moore was asked to design a large-scale sculpture for the new headquarters of UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) in Paris. Entworfen und gegossen 1957 in einer Auflage von zwölf Exemplaren mit zwei Probegüssen

Die "Reclining Figures", also die "liegenden Figuren" gehören zum gängigen Formenrepertoire von Henry Moore bereits seit Ende 1929. Im Mai 1955 wurde Moore gebeten, eine grossformatige Skulptur für den neuen Sitz UNESCO (Organisation der Vereinten Nationen für Erziehung, Wissenschaft und Kultur) in Paris zu entwerfen.
