On thin wove paper (papier vélin) with watermark "BFK RIVES". With a double vertical crease at the left and further smaller ones at the right, the paper slightly wavy, a minimal light margin visible. At all in good condition, the ink deep black

Comments

Pierre Bonnard illustrated various books, including Claude Anet's "Notes sur l'amour", which was published in Paris in 1922. The present drawing is a draft for the fifth chapter "De la beauté". The final version is slightly altered and focuses even more on the two heads. Well-documented drawing from an important Swiss private collection

Auf dünnem Velin mit Wasserzeichen "BFK RIVES". Mit einem doppelten, vertikalen Knitter links und weiteren kleinen rechts, das Papier leicht wellig, ein minimer Lichtrand erkennbar. Insgesamt in guter Erhaltung, die Tusche tiefschwarz

Pierre Bonnard illustrierte diverse Bücher, darunter Claude Anets "Notes sur l'amour", das 1922 in Paris erschien. Die vorliegende Zeichnung ist ein Entwurf zum fünften Kapitel "De la beauté". Die endgültige Fassung ist leicht abgeändert und fokussiert sich noch mehr auf die beiden Köpfe. Gut dokumentierte Zeichnung aus einer bedeutenden Schweizer Privatsammlung
