Commentaires

Originally Ricco wanted to give this painting to his childhood friend Viktor Kleinert as a gift right after it was finished. However, it did not come to a donation, and later the interim director of the Kunsthalle Bern, Zdenek Felix, received it in gratitude for organizing a retrospective. Ricco's model for the boy was a photograph of the farm boy Jean Baudet, who appears several times in his oeuvre from 1955 onwards

Erläuterungen

Ursprünglich wollte Ricco dieses Gemälde gleich nach Beendigung seinem Jugendfreund Viktor Kleinert schenken. Es kam jedoch nicht zur Schenkung und später erhielt es der interimistische Leiter der Kunsthalle Bern, Zdenek Felix, als Dank für die Organisation einer Retrospektive. Als Modell für den Jungen diente Ricco eine Fotografie des Bauernjungen Jean Baudet, der mehrfach ab 1955 im Oeuvre vorkommt
