    Comments

After her training as a graphic designer at the School of Arts and Crafts in Basel, Nelly Rudin worked successfully in this profession for many years. In 1964, she decided to leave graphic design behind and devote herself entirely to the fine arts. Through the continuous development and variation of her central pictorial themes, she repeatedly discovered surprising new possibilities of expression in the dynamic interplay between painting and sculpture. Characteristic of her work is the conscious and careful design of the picture edges. With this design element, she expanded her artistic language by an independent and essential dimension. The present work is an impressive example from the artist's mature period and illustrates the sovereignty and consistency of her artistic expression.
