    Comments

Even at a young age, Meret Oppenheim came into contact with the Surrealist circle around André Breton (1896-1966) during her stay in Paris. Breton wanted to liberate art from strict rationality and encouraged the writing of dream protocols and making their contents part of artistic creation. The form at the upper left is reminiscent of a waning crescent moon, while the remaining forms are more abstract. "Très peu de vie" thus exemplifies one of the Surrealist "paysages".
