    Comments

Raoul Hausmann created expressive watercolours in the 1910s. After an expressionist phase, he turned to Cubism before becoming a central figure of Berlin Dadaism and organizing the first international Dada Fair in 1919.

Hausmann worked with artists such as George Grosz (1893-1959) and the collage artist and graphic designer Hannah Höch (1889-1978). He met the latter in 1915, when he was married and the father of a daughter. A dramatic love affair developed between the two, during which Höch had two abortions. In 1922, the couple ended their unhappy private and artistic liaison.
