Sheet with studio and grip marks, somewhat darker in colour at the upper edge. Traces of old mounting on the reverse. In very good condition
Depicted are fishermen with their boats on the Laïta river. This approximately seventeen-kilometre-long coastal river in Brittany originates at the confluence of the Isole and Ellé in the city centre of Quimperlé and flows into the Atlantic Ocean. Throughout its course, the Laïta is influenced by the tides. This region inspired not only Armand Séguin, but also other painters such as the Gauguin pupil Paul Sérusier. Paul Gauguin himself used to take walks along the banks of the Laïta during his excursions from Pont-Aven.
