Sheet slightly wavy and minimally stained, right margin somewhat irregular, small drawing pin holes in the corners outside the image, traces of old mounting on the reverse. In very good condition
Harry Graf Kessler (1868-1937) was a great patron of Munch. He was the director of the Museum of Art and Design in Weimar from 1903, and was also one of the co-founders of the journal PAN (see also lot 778).
Printed by Liebmann, of great rarity.
Munch first depicted the portrait as a bust (state A), but subsequently shortened the composition, as is the case with the present sheet.

Harry Graf Kessler (1868-1937), ab 1903 Direktor im Museum für Kunst und Gewerbe in Weimar und einer der Mitgründer der Zeitschrift PAN (vgl. auch Los 778), war ein grosser Förderer Munchs.
Gedruckt von Liebmann, von grosser Seltenheit.
Zuerst stellte Munch das Porträt als Büste dar (Zustand A), verkürzte die Darstellung anschliessend jedoch, wie es beim vorliegenden Blatt der Fall ist.
