The present painting is a powerful example of Emil Schumacher’s gestural-expressive painting style, which played a central role in European postwar art. Schumacher was one of the main representatives of German Informel—a movement that broke away from all figuration and instead focused on spontaneity, materiality, and emotional intensity.
The composition is characterized by a dominant red palette, contrasted with white, black, and occasional green tones. The dense, impasto application of paint and the traces of scratches and ruptures create a tactile, almost sculptural structure.

Das vorliegende Gemälde ist ein kraftvolles Beispiel für Emil Schumachers gestisch-expressive Malweise, die in der europäischen Nachkriegskunst eine zentrale Rolle spielte. Schumacher war einer der Hauptvertreter des deutschen Informel - einer Kunstrichtung, die sich von jeglicher Figuration löste und stattdessen auf Spontaneität, Materialität und emotionale Intensität setzte.
Die Komposition ist von einer dominierenden Rotpalette geprägt, die mit Weiss, Schwarz und vereinzelten Grüntönen kontrastiert. Der dichte, pastose Farbauftrag und die Spuren von Kratzungen und Aufbrüchen erzeugen eine taktile, beinahe skulpturale Struktur.
