    Comments

The American artist Robert Longo created the stage design for the opera "Lucio Silla" at the Salzburg Festival in 1993. Four monumental colour crosses entitled "Dreams with the Wrong Solution" first adorned the stage and were then, after efforts by the artistic director, installed in the foyer of the Festival Hall. The collector couple Agnes and Karlheinz Essl made this possible with a permanent loan. In 2016, the large colour crosses became a permanent part of the foyer of the Great Festival Hall in Salzburg through a donation and have since accompanied the prestigious musical festival with their impressive presence.

The present four models were created during the execution of the monumental crosses. Longo produced a total of three reduced sets as gifts for those involved in the project. Very fine work that gives a sense of the impact of the monumental colour crosses.
