Minimally trimmed at the sheet edges, laid down on linen. In fresh and very good condition
This is an extremely rare poster, predating the text designed by the artist. According to the author of the catalogue raisonné, Wolfgang Wittrock, only one copy is known in a public collection, namely in the "Designmuseum Danmark" in Copenhagen. Götz Adriani notes that he knows of only two copies in this state.
The artist depicts the ice-skating Misia Natanson-Sert (1872-1950), the wife of Thadée Natanson (1868-1951). From October 1891, together with his two brothers Alexandre and Louis Alfred, he published the magazine "La Revue blanche". For this magazine, Toulouse-Lautrec designed the poster, which was printed by Edward Ancourt, Paris. Misia Natanson's salon was the epitome of social life in Paris, and she succeeded in attracting a circle of avant-garde writers, composers, and visual artists to the "Revue blanche". Toulouse-Lautrec was also a frequent guest at the Natansons' house on Rue Saint-Florentine.
