Sheet laid down on Japan, mounted on cardboard covered with canvas. With several restored paper losses and supported tears. The colours, especially in the yellow, slightly faded. In good, stable condition
An extremely rare trial proof without the drawing stone in olive green and thus also before the text designed by the artist. The author of the catalogue raisonné, Wolfgang Wittrock, knows of only two copies of this state.
The artist designed the poster in connection with the publication "Reine de Joie" by his friend, the writer Victor Joze (1861-1933). Both the poster and the novel caused a scandal. Toulouse-Lautrec depicts an episode with the heroine of the novel: Hélène Roland kisses her table neighbour, the corpulent Olizac, at a laid table. In fact, he portrays Georges Lasserre on the left and Luzarche d'Azay on the right. At the instigation of Baron de Rothschild, who believed himself to be represented in the main character of the novel, a "Baron Rosenfeld", an attempt was made to confiscate the edition.

In guter, stabiler Erhaltung
