With stains, the paper edge reinforced on the reverse, with individual pressure folds. Slightly faded, but overall a fine impression.

Comments

The edition of this colour lithograph comprised a total of 112 copies, of which 100 were printed on China and 12 on Japan paper. The publisher Pierrefort, Paris, intended to publish a series of four prints with scenes from the racecourse under the title "Courses". While only individual trial proofs were pulled from the other three subjects (Wittrock 309-311), this was the only sheet that appeared as an edition. The lithographs were printed by Henri Stern, Paris.

Erläuterungen

Die Auflage dieser Farblithographie betrug insgesamt 112 Exemplare, wovon 100 auf China und 12 auf Japan gedruckt wurden. Der Verleger Pierrefort, Paris, hatte die Absicht, unter dem Titel "Courses" eine Folge von vier Graphiken mit Szenen vom Rennplatz zu veröffentlichen. Während von den anderen drei Sujets (Wittrock 309-311) lediglich einzelne Probedrucke abgezogen wurden, war dies das einzige Blatt, das als Auflage erschien. Gedruckt wurden die Lithographien von Henri Stern, Paris.
