Under the title "Le Vieux Bouffon", a coloured linocut appeared in 1963, printed from 6 plates. The present sheet is a print from the yellow plate for the final depiction of the Buffon. On the way to the final state, the artist used the plate for another depiction. The outline of the mouth, the areas of the cheeks and forehead, as well as the bells of the final depiction, are recognizable. Printed in dark brown over light brown, finally black.

Erläuterungen

Unter dem Titel "Le Vieux Bouffon" erschien 1963 ein farbiger Linolschnitt, der von 6 Platten gedruckt wurde. Das vorliegende Blatt ist ein Druck der Gelbplatte für die endgültige Darstellung des Buffon. Auf dem Wege zum endgültigen Zustand hat der Künstler die Platte noch für eine weitere Darstellung genutzt. Der Umriss des Mundes, die Flächen der Wangen und der Stirn sowie die Schellen der endgültigen Darstellung sind erkennbar. Druck in Dunkelbraun über Hellbraun, zuletzt Schwarz.
