The etching was originally intended for an illustration in the unpublished publication by René Crevel, "3 poèmes, suivi de Mais si la mort n'était qu'un mot". The sheet from the edition was included with the deluxe copies of the exhibition catalogue "Alberto Giacometti" of Galerie Klipstein und Kornfeld, 18 July–22 August 1959.
