Sheet fresh in colour, slightly creased and browned with minimal light marks margin, traces of old mounting on the reverse. In very good condition
During Camille Corot's stay in Rome between September and October 1827, the painter was almost exclusively interested in landscape depiction. His excursions into the Roman Campagna led him, among other places, to the primeval region of the Sabine Mountains and to the rocky plateau of the medieval town of Civita Castellana. Several pen drawings were created there. Corot succeeded in capturing the lush vegetation and the rugged rock formations in a wonderful way, with an analytical eye and sensual perception.

In sehr guter Erhaltung
