    Comments

Le Corbusier withdrew to Ozon, a small village in the Pyrenees, in 1940 during the Second World War. There, on numerous walks, he collected a variety of objects such as leaves, wood, stones and roots. These elements from nature served as starting points for artistic inspiration. Assembled together, he transformed them into surrealist compositions, which he captured in drawings and, even years later, translated into two- or three-dimensional works of art. In this way, Le Corbusier created a series of sculptures entitled 'Ozon' produced in collaboration with Joseph Savina between 1957 and 1962.

The present sheet can be placed in this context and thematically refers to works from the 1940s that are in the collection of the Fondation Le Corbusier (FLC 6305, 3035, 1185).
