Comments

The model depicted in the present work was, until a few years ago, referred to as 'L'Américaine'. It is now known that she was the American Jean Stein, daughter of Dr Jules Stein, the founder of the Music Corporation of America. A renowned journalist, Stein brought together fascinating people at legendary salon-style gatherings. Her interview with Alberto Giacometti from 1962, titled 'At Giacomettis Studio', was published in the January 1963 issue of the magazine 'Show, The Magazine of the Arts'. During this interview, various drawings were created, including the one offered here.

Erläuterungen

Das in der vorliegenden Arbeit dargestellte Modell wurde bis vor ein paar Jahren als "L'Américaine" bezeichnet. Heute weiss man, dass es sich um die Amerikanerin Jean Stein, die Tochter von Dr. Jules Stein, dem Gründer der Music Corporation of America, handelt. Als renommierte Journalistin brachte Stein faszinierende Menschen in legendären salonartigen Treffen zusammen. Ihr Interview mit Alberto Giacometti von 1962 mit dem Titel "In Giacomettis Atelier" wurde in der Januar-Ausgabe 1963 der Zeitschrift "Show, The Magazine of the Arts", veröffentlicht. Während dieses Interviews sind verschiedene Zeichnungen entstanden, darunter die hier angebotene.
