Condition

The paper slightly wavy, very occasionally with creases in the lower margin, with studio traces and pinholes in the upper corners. Overall in very fine condition

Comments

The drawing is a 1:1 scale study for a stone sculpture that the artist was working on in Mur on Mont Vully. The sculpture is illustrated in the exhibition catalogue of the Kunsthalle Bern 1977, p. VI and is in the estate of Markus Raetz. Alongside other small preliminary drawings in A4 format with head studies (cf. Ausstellungskatalog Kunsthalle Basel 1982/1983), the present work is the largest and most complete.

Zustand

Das Papier leicht gewellt, ganz vereinzelt mit Knittern am unteren Rand, mit Atelierspuren und Reissnagellöchern in den oberen Ecken. Insgesamt in sehr schöner Erhaltung

Erläuterungen

Die Zeichnung ist eine Studie im Massstab 1:1 für eine Steinskulptur, an der der Künstler in Mur auf dem Mont Vully arbeitete. Die Skulptur ist im Ausstellungskatalog der Kunsthalle Bern 1977, S. VI abgebildet und befindet sich im Nachlass von Markus Raetz. Neben weiteren kleinen Vorzeichnungen im A4-Format mit Kopfstudien (vgl. Ausstellungskatalog Kunsthalle Basel 1982/1983) ist die vorliegende Arbeit die grösste und vollständigste.
