Condition

Perfect print. Neatly restored tear (approx. 5 cm) outside the image in the right margin. Plate edge upper left probably originally cut through and reinforced by restorer. Ironed out crease lower right. Remains of mounting on the reverse. In overall good condition.

Comments

Rare early impression of the important etching from the early graphic work, created in Berlin in 1895 and printed by various printers until 1914, probably by Sabo or Angerer in Berlin. Woll only mentions two early impressions labelled "avant lettre no. 5".

Tadelloser Druck. Sauber hinterlegter Einriss (ca. 5 cm) ausserhalb der Darstellung am rechten Rand. Plattenkante oben links wohl ursprünglich durchgeschlagen und restauratorisch verstärkt. Ausgebügelter Knick unten rechts. Rückseitig mit Montierungsresten

Erläuterungen

Seltener Frühdruck der wichtigen Radierung aus dem frühen graphischen Werk, entstanden 1895 noch in Berlin und bis 1914 von verschiedenen Druckern, wohl von Sabo oder Angerer in Berlin abgezogen. Bei Woll werden lediglich zwei frühe Abzüge mit der Bezeichnung "avant lettre Nr. 5" erwähnt.
