    Comments

In this work, which was created in connection with "La ville", Fernand Léger also shows life in Paris, here construction workers who are very dynamically at work. The ink drawing was created by the artist on tracing paper, probably for later transfer to another medium. His widow Nadia Léger often had such drawings later mounted on canvas, as was done in this case. On the reverse side, Nadia confirms in her own hand that the work is authentic. The motif was finally discarded by Nadia Léger and Tériade for the lithograph series.

We thank Irus Hansma for the valuable information on the work
