Comments

The theme of mother and child runs like a leitmotif through Marc Chagall's work. It stands symbolically for life and love, just like the rooster and the bright bouquets of flowers. The black contours lend the depiction an almost three-dimensional structure. The two main figures thus seem to float in a heart-shaped cloud, a tree of life/bouquet symbolically growing out of the mother's womb. The whole scene is bathed in a fine pink, full of love the mother looks at her child

Erläuterungen

Das Thema von Mutter und Kind zieht sich wie ein Leitmotiv durch Marc Chagalls Schaffen. Es steht sinnbildlich für das Leben und die Liebe, gleich wie der Hahn und die leuchtenden Blumenbouquets. Die schwarzen Konturen verleihen der Darstellung beinahe eine dreidimensionale Struktur. Die beiden Hauptfiguren scheinen so in einer herzförmigen Wolke zu schweben, aus dem Schoss der Mutter wächst symbolhaft ein Lebensbaum/Bouquet. Die ganze Szene ist in ein feines Rosa getaucht, voller Liebe blickt die Mutter auf ihr Kind
