Signed by the artist in acrylic paint on the lower left "MAHLANGU ESTHER".
With folds and single traces of use
The women of the South African Ndebele ethnic group traditionally paint their houses with bright colours and geometric patterns. Artist Esther Mahlangu takes this to a new level by applying the technique to canvases and objects. Her tools are chicken feathers, which are also used to paint the precise black lines that separate the colour fields. Works by the artist can be found in many important international collections
