Comments

Marc Chagall dedicated numerous pictures to the topos of love and the family. The couple ride on a rooster, which is his iconographic sign for family and constancy. A bouquet of flowers testifies to the great source of inspiration that is Paris, of which we recognise, unmistakably, the Eiffel Tower and Notre-Dame Cathedral on the picture’s left. Marc Chagall widmete dem Topos der Liebe und der Familie zahlreiche Bilder. Das Liebespaar reitet auf dem Hahn, der für den Künstler ikonographisch als Zeichen der Familie und Beständigkeit steht. Ein Blumenbouquet zeugt von der grossen Inspirationsquelle seiner neuen Heimat Paris, unverkennbar sind der Eiffelturm und die Kathedrale Notre Dame am linken Bildrand zu sehen.
