On the original stretcher of the supplier Lucien Lefebvre-Foinet, Paris (label no. 5798), partly still in the old nailing, partly fixed with new staples. Fresh in colour and in very good condition

Comments

Bougival is a small commune on the Seine west of Paris. As early as 1905, Maurice de Vlaminck moved from central Paris to nearby Rueil-Malmaison. He remained in the area until 1925, when he settled permanently in the hamlet of La Tourillière near Rueil-la-Gadelière. The remarkable Fauvist expressive paintings, but also the poetic almost always deserted city views and landscapes, were created on the Seine

Erläuterungen

Bougival ist eine kleine Gemeinde an der Seine westlich von Paris. Bereits 1905 zog Maurice de Vlaminck vom Pariser Zentrum in die Nähe, nach Rueil-Malmaison. Er blieb in der Gegend bis er sich 1925 endgültig im Weiler La Tourillière bei Rueil-la-Gadelière niederliess. An der Seine entstanden die bemerkenswerten fauvistischen expressiven Gemälde, aber auch die poetischen fast immer menschenleeren Stadtansichten und Landschaften
