Music was not only iconographically very present in Alice Bailly's work, but also very important to her personally. Together with her patron Werner Reinhart from Winterthur, she admired and loved the music of Igor Stravinsky. Bailly's oeuvre includes several works on the theme of musicians such as female pianists or, as in the present painting of a female singer with a pianist in the background

Erläuterungen

Die Musik war nicht nur ikonographisch im Werk von Alice Bailly sehr präsent, sondern für sie auch persönlich sehr wichtig. Zusammen mit ihrem Mäzen Werner Reinhart aus Winterthur bewunderte und liebte sie die Musik von Igor Stravinsky. Im Œuvre von Bailly finden sich mehrere Werke zum Thema Musiker wie Pianistinnen oder wie im vorliegenden Gemälde einer Sängerin mit einem Pianisten im Hintergrund
