On firm, cream-coloured wove paper with ARCHES FRANCE watermark a sections of the blind stamp of the paper manufacturer, fresh in colours and in immaculate condition

Comments

An incredibly dense, vibrant composition. The lovers stand beneath the lush Tree of Life, waving to the viewer as if to involve us all in the action. The mystical animal, the creativity, seems to grow out of the lovers, while the angel floating above the tree frames the scene with happiness and blessings. The composition is a veritable firework display of colour, applied almost pointillistically and it demonstrates Chagall’s distinctive ability to capture movements, emotions and the ambiance of the pictorial space using a range of expressive techniques

Erläuterungen

Eine unglaublich dichte und lebendige Komposition. Das Liebespaar steht unter dem üppigen Lebensbaum und winkt den Betrachtenden förmlich zu, wir alle werden damit Teil des Geschehens. Das mystische Tier, die Kreativität, erscheint aus dem Liebespaar zu wachsen, der über dem Baum schwebende Engel rahmt die Szene mit Glück und Segen ein. Die Komposition ist ein wahres Feuerwerk an Farben, beinahe pointillistisch umgesetzt. Sie zeigt eindrücklich die besondere Fähigkeit des Künstlers, Bewegungen, Emotionen und die Atmosphäre im Bildraum mit unterschiedlichen Ausdrucksformen einzufangen
