Alexandre Perrier often found the subjects for his mountain landscapes in Savoy, which was close by from Geneva, especially on the plateau of Le-Praz-de-Lys. His brother had bought an alpine hut there at the turn of the century. Instead of a wide landscape, our painting shows a fir forest on the edge of the Praz-de-Lys, which, like a wall, closes off the plateau

Alexandre Perrier fand die Sujets für seine Berglandschaften oftmals im von Genf aus nahegelegenen Savoyen, insbesondere auf der Hochfläche von Le-Praz-de-Lys. Dort hatte sein Bruder um die Jahrhundertwende eine Alphütte erworben. Anstatt einer weiten Landschaft zeigt unser Gemälde einen Tannenwald am Rand des Praz-de-Lys, der gleichsam einer Mauer die Hochebene abschliesst
