1. Handwritten letter in ink to Karl Buchholz in Berlin, the owner of the Buchholz Gallery, who sent his assistant Curt Valentin to New York in 1936 to open a branch of the Buchholz Gallery there. 4 pages. Dated "Davos, 22 March 37". Signed "Mit frdl. Gruss Ihr E.L. Kirchner".
2. Handwritten letter in ink to Curt Valentin in New York. 4 pages. Dated "Davos, 6 April 37".
3. Handwritten letter in ink to Curt Valentin in New York. 4 pages. Dated "Davos, 20 May 37". Signed "I am very much looking forward to seeing and speaking to you at the end of July, then. Until then, think a little kindly of E.L. Kirchner."

All letters in good condition
To the first letter: Not traceable in Delfs. Probably unpublished. He mentions details of the planned consignment and the selection: "It is always my principle to offer only the best and especially for New York, where as a German painter one is seen in competition with the best Frenchmen etc.".
On the 2nd letter: mentions the picture consignment from Detroit and sends photos of the 9 pictures to be sent from Davos. "For all their strength of colour and form, they are still calm and positively posed to life".
To the 3rd letter: draft, unpublished. Kirchner sends the final typed version on 21 May 1937. Cf. Delfs 3338. He addresses the work of Nolde and mentions Hofer and Beckmann. Mentions the pictures from Detroit and wants a delivery note

Datiert "Davos, 22 März 37". Unterzeichnet "Mit frdl. Gruss Ihr E.L. Kirchner".
2. Handschriftlicher Brief in Tinte an Curt Valentin in New York. 4 Seiten. Datiert "Davos, 6. April 37".
3. Handschriftlicher Brief in Tinte an Curt Valentin in New York. 4 Seiten. Datiert "Davos, den 20. Mai 37". Unterzeichnet "Ich freue mich sehr, Sie also Ende Juli zu sehen und zu sprechen. Bis dahin denken Sie ein wenig freundlich an E.L. Kirchner."

Zum 1. Brief: Bei Delfs nicht nachweisbar. Wohl unpubliziert. Er erwähnt Details der geplanten Sendung und der Auswahl: "Es ist immer mein Prinzip nur das beste herauszugeben und besonders für New York, wo man als deutscher Maler in Concurrenz mit den besten Franzosen etc. gesehen wird."
Zum 2. Brief: Erwähnt die Bildersendung aus Detroit und schickt Fotos der aus Davos zu schickenden 9 Bilder. "Bei aller Kraft der Farbe und Form sind sie doch ruhig und positiv zum Leben gestellt".
Zum 3. Brief: Entwurf, unpubliziert. Kirchner schickt am 21. Mai 1937 die endgültige, mit Maschine geschriebene Fassung. Vgl. Delfs 3338. Er spricht das Werk von Nolde an und erwähnt Hofer und Beckmann. Erwähnt die Bilder aus Detroit und wünscht einen Lieferschein
