The "papier calque" glued to cardboard backing. The corner cut away at the lower right, small missing part at the upper left corner.
The detailed incised drawing is difficult to read. It is probably a study for the picture "Arabe tenant un cheval par la bride", Bazin 2637. The drawing is scratched into the "papier calque" with a needle. Géricault created only one etching, whether he wanted to create a preparatory work for a drypoint work with the present incised drawing remains a conjecture. The horse in pen and ink in the lower third is sketched above the incised drawing. Charming and rare working document

Die detailliert ausgeführte Ritzzeichnung schwer leserlich. Es handelt sich wohl um eine Studie zu dem Bild "Arabe tenant un cheval par la bride", Bazin 2637. Die Zeichnung ist mit einer Nadel in das "papier calque" geritzt. Géricault hat lediglich eine einzige Radierung geschaffen, ob er mit der vorliegenden Ritzzeichnung eine Vorarbeit für eine Kaltnadelarbeit schaffen wollte, bleibt eine Vermutung. Das Pferd in Feder in Tusche im unteren Drittel ist über der Ritzzeichnung skizziert. Reizvolles und seltenes Arbeitsdokument
