Comments

This painting from Augusto Giacometti's late period clearly shows how the artist approached naturalism again towards the end of his creative period. The present painting shows how Giacometti deals with the ambivalence of representationalism, shown here in the ostensible still life, and non-representationalism, indicated in the background of the work. The painting, in yellow, orange and red, is a veritable firework of colourful charms, typical of the artist's late work

Erläuterungen

Das aus Augusto Giacomettis Spätwerk stammende Gemälde zeigt deutlich wie der Künstler sich gegen Ende seiner Schaffensperiode wieder dem Naturalismus näherte. Dem vorliegenden Gemälde kann man entnehmen, wie sich Giacometti mit der Ambivalenz von Gegenständlichkeit, hier im vordergründigen Stillleben gezeigt, und der Ungegenständlichkeit, angedeutet im Hintergrund des Werkes, beschäftigt. Das in den Farben Gelb, Orange und Rot gehaltene Bild ist ein wahres Feuerwerk farblicher Reize, typisch für das Spätwerk des Künstlers
