Comments

The sunny winter landscape shows a view of the hamlet of Loch near Oschwand in front of the cutting of the Mutzgraben and the crest of the Oberbühlknubel in the background. The colour spectrum of the picture is reduced to Cuno Amiet's favoured colours for winter landscapes, to light blue, pink and pale yellow. In the painting he added a few strong accents in dark blue as well as through the unpainted, unprimed canvas

Amiet dedicated the 1916 painting to his godchild Ebba Grisebach (1912-2006) at an unknown date. Ebba is the daughter of the philosopher Eberhard Grisebach-Spengler and his wife Charlotte, called Lotte, the eldest daughter of the lung doctor Lucius Spengler in Davos

Unten rechts vom Künstler in Ölfarbe monogrammiert und datiert "CA 16", rückseitig oben auf dem Keilrahmen vom Künstler in Gouache an Ebba Grisebach dediziert und signiert "MEINEM LIEBEN PATENKIND EBBA GRISEBACH. C. Amiet."

Erläuterungen

Die sonnige Winterlandschaft zeigt eine Ansicht des Weilers Loch bei Oschwand vor dem Einschnitt des Mutzgrabens und der Kuppe des Oberbühlknubels im Hintergrund. Das Farbspektrum des Bildes ist auf Cuno Amiets favorisierte Farben für Winterlandschaften, auf Hellblau, Rosa und blasses Gelb reduziert. Im Bild setzte er ein paar wenige, kräftige Akzente in Dunkelblau sowie durch die nicht bemalte, ungrundierte Leinwand

Das 1916 entstandene Gemälde dedizierte Amiet zu einem unbekannten Zeitpunkt seinem Patenkind Ebba Grisebach (1912-2006). Ebba ist die Tochter des Philosophen Eberhard Grisebach-Spengler und dessen Ehefrau Charlotte, genannt Lotte, der ältesten Tochter des Lungenarztes Lucius Spengler in Davos
