Condition

The back of the canvas is painted over with opaque white, probably with a discarded oil painting underneath. In the old nailing, freshly coloured and in fine condition, lower right with tiny scratches

Comments

Mystical representation of a pond surrounded by trees and bushes. In 1921, after graduating from the Basler Gewerbeschule, Neuhaus was a pupil of Cuno Amiet on the Oschwand, where he gradually freed himself from work in a dark-toned manner

Zustand

Die Rückseite der Leinwand mit Deckweiss übermalt, darunter befindet sich wohl ein verworfenes Ölbild. In der alten Nagelung, farbfrisch und in schöner Erhaltung, rechts unten mit kleinsten Kratzern

Erläuterungen

Mystische Darstellung eines Teiches umgeben von Bäumen und Sträuchern. Neuhaus hielt sich 1921 - nach der Absolvierung der Basler Gewerbeschule - als Malschüler bei Cuno Amiet auf der Oschwand auf, wo er sich allmählich von Arbeiten in dunkeltöniger Manier loslöste
