As early as 1925 André Lhote discovered the small village of Mirmande south of Valence and from then on organised summer stays there for his Académie, which he had founded in Paris the same year. Later he moved to Gordes and finally to La Cadière d'Azur. He captured these small romantic towns on canvas and created colourful works of art in a cubist style

Erläuterungen

Bereits 1925 entdeckte André Lhote das kleine Dorf Mirmande südlich von Valence und organisierte dort fortan Sommeraufenthalte seiner Académie, die er im gleichen Jahr in Paris gegründet hatte. Später zog er nach Gordes und schliesslich nach La Cadière d'Azur. Diese kleinen romantischen Ortschaften bannte er auf die Leinwand und schuf farbenprächtige Kunstwerke in kubistischer Manier
