In 1967 the artist and his second wife Vava moved to the Villa "La Colline" in Saint-Paul-de-Vence. The large studio window in the background provides a view of the landscape in twilight mood. Brightly colored bouquets of flowers in the foreground dominate the scene in the spacious studio as symbols of life and inspiration, a bottle of wine and the fruit bowl testify to the artist's metaphysical presence
