Condition

Quite an excellent impression of this rare landscape. Still with clear ridge in the group of trees on the left and delicate plate tone. With fully visible platemark in excellent, untreated condition

Commentaires

A landscape executed exclusively in drypoint, which was therefore only printed in a few copies and is rare. Due to the spontaneity of the execution, researchers assume that Rembrandt began the plate in nature on location and then finalised it in his workshop. The exact location, which Rembrandt also recorded in drawings, has not yet been identified.

Ganz ausgezeichneter Druck dieser seltenen Landschaft. Noch mit deutlichem Grat in der Baumgruppe links und zartem Plattenton. Mit voll sichtbarer Plattenkante in vorzüglicher, unbehandelter Erhaltung

Erläuterungen

Eine ausschliesslich in Kaltnadelarbeit ausgeführte Landschaft, die deswegen nur in wenigen Exemplaren gedruckt wurde und selten ist. Wegen der Spontaneität der Ausführung geht die Forschung davon aus, dass Rembrandt die Platte in der Natur vor Ort begann und in seiner Werkstatt abschliessend bearbeitete. Der genaue Platz, den Rembrandt auch in Zeichnungen festhielt, konnte bislang nicht identifiziert werden.
