Commentaires

Goya's concern to denounce corruption and abuse of power is made clear in Ayala's commentary on the portrayal: "She is poor and ugly. How can there be any help?" This suggests that help would be possible if, for example, there was money to bribe her.

Erläuterungen

Goyas Anliegen, Korruption und Machtmissbrauch anzuprangern, wird in Ayalas Kommentar der Darstellung deutlich: "Sie ist arm und hässlich. Wie kann es da noch Hilfe geben?" Damit wird suggeriert, Hilfe wäre durchaus möglich, wenn beispielsweise Geld zur Bestechung vorhanden wäre.
