On helicopter flights, Burkhard took black and white photographs of various major cities such as Chicago, Los Angeles, London and Tokyo. The present work shows Mexico City and is part of a series of pictures taken around 1999. In the tension-filled large format, the small-scale city seems unhinged. The tilted perspective almost makes the viewer fall into it.

Auf Helikopterflügen schoss Burkhard Schwarz-Weiss-Aufnahmen diverser Grossstädte wie Chicago, Los Angeles, London oder Tokyo. Das vorliegende Werk zeigt Mexico City und ist Teil einer Bilderreihe, die um 1999 entstand. In dem spannungsgeladenen Grossformat scheint die kleinteilige Stadt aus den Angeln gehoben. Die gekippte Perspektive lässt den Betrachtenden fast hineinfallen.
