Commentaires

A copy outside the edition of 60, with colouring type AB in a colour variant, the upper star and the triangle in grey. The work was commissioned by the publisher, book and art dealer Hans Goltz in Munich as part of Goltz's exhibitions on the subject of war in 1914 and 1915. Klee created the lithograph during a military leave in Munich, and from 1916 onwards he coloured it, sometimes in varying applications of colour.

Erläuterungen

Ein Exemplar ausserhalb der Auflage von 60 Exemplaren, mit Kolorit Typ AB in einer Farbvariante, der obere Stern und das Dreieck in Grau. Die Arbeit entstand als Auftragsarbeit für den Verleger, Buch- und Kunsthändler Hans Goltz in München im Rahmen von Goltz’ Ausstellungen zum Thema "Krieg" in den Jahren 1914 und 1915. Klee schuf die Lithographie während eines Militärurlaubs in München, ab 1916 kolorierte er sie, teilweise in unterschiedlichem Farbauftrag.
