Commentaires

Dr René Wehrli, director of the Kunsthaus from 1950 to 1975, organised a comprehensive exhibition of works by Alberto Giacometti at the Kunsthaus Zürich in 1962 (2 December 1962 to 20 January 1963). Alberto Giacometti was personally present during the installation of the exhibition, as a photograph taken during the installation at the Kunsthaus together with Dr Wehrli and Hedy Schiess shows. The present drawing came into the possession of Dr Wehrli and later Hedy Schiess as a result of their personal contact. On the front, it shows a still life in Giacometti's parents' house in Stampa with the typical arched ceiling.

Erläuterungen

Dr. René Wehrli, Kunsthausdirektor von 1950 bis 1975, organisierte 1962 eine umfassende Ausstellung mit Werken von Alberto Giacometti im Kunsthaus Zürich (2. Dezember 1962 bis 20. Januar 1963). Alberto Giacometti war bei der Einrichtung der Ausstellung persönlich anwesend, wie eine Fotografie während des Aufbaus im Kunsthaus zusammen mit Dr. Wehrli und Hedy Schiess zeigt. Durch den persönlichen Kontakt kam die vorliegende Zeichnung in den Besitz von Dr. Wehrli und später von Hedy Schiess. Sie zeigt auf der Vorderseite ein Stillleben im Elternhaus Giacomettis in Stampa mit der typischen Rundbogendecke.
