Commentaires

One of the extremely rare proofs printed by Paul Gauguin himself before Louis Roy's edition. The print was made during Gauguin's stay in Paris in the winter of 1893-1894, based on drawings and sketches from Tahiti. One of only four prints listed in the catalogue raisonné in the second state from a wooden block, before the addition of the colour blocks.

Erläuterungen

Einer der eigenhändig von Paul Gauguin gedruckten höchst seltenen Probedrucke Abzüge vor der Auflage von Louis Roy. Der Druck entstand während Gauguins Aufenthalt in Paris im Winter 1893-1894, Vorlagen waren Zeichnungen und Skizzen aus Tahiti. Einer der bloss 4 im Werkverzeichnis aufgeführten Drucke im II. Zustand von einem Holzstock, vor der Ergänzung mit den Farbstöcken.
