Condition

Perfect impression on cream wove paper (papier vélin), slightly browned and with lightstruck at the leaf margins, reinforced along the margins at the back side.

Commentaires

The lithograph was made in connection with the preparatory work for the paintings "Der Frühling" of 1900-1901 (Bätschmann/Müller 1322) and "Der Frühling" of 1904/1905 (Bätschmann/Müller 1356). The depiction shows only the girl as part of the oil painting. C.A. Loosli writes of one of "the most expressive line formations Hodler ever created" (from: C.A. Loosli vol. III, pag. 16). It is a rare print from the edition of only 50 copies.

Erläuterungen

Die Lithographie ist im Zusammenhang mit den Vorarbeiten zu den Gemälden "Der Frühling" von 1900-1901 (Bätschmann/Müller 1322) und "Der Frühling" von 1904/1905 (Bätschmann/Müller 1356) entstanden. Die Darstellung zeigt nur das Mädchen als Teil des Ölgemäldes. C.A. Loosli schreibt von einem "der ausdrucksvollsten Liniengebilde, das Hodler je schuf" (aus: C.A. Loosli Bd. III, pag. 16). Es ist ein seltenes Blatt aus der auf nur 50 Exemplare nummerierten Auflage
