A very poetic and colour-intensive composition that shows Chagall's great artistic power and constant renewal. Under a bright yellow-green sky, the lovers can be seen in counterpoint with yellow, red and blue colour chords, with the "mystical" animal as the source of inspiration on the right. While the man devotes himself entirely to his beloved, she looks directly and transfigured at the viewers.
