Splendid chiaroscuro print, along with the drawing plate in black, 2 tone plates in light and dark green. Perfect condition, with small paper margin around the fully visible border line

Commentaires

The woodcut, listed in early catalogues raisonnés as coming from Hendrick Goltzius, is denied to Goltzius by the new research (New Hollstein, Bialler). Nancy Bialler lists the print as "Anonymous", but maintains that it is "after Esaias van de Velde". In such good print quality and perfect condition of greatest rarity

Das Blatt, in frühen Werkverzeichnissen als von Hendrick Goltzius stammend aufgeführt, wird von der neuen Forschung (New Hollstein, Bialler) Goltzius abgesprochen. Nancy Bialler führt das Blatt als unter "Anonymous" auf, hält aber an "nach Esaias van de Velde" fest. In so guter Druckqualität und perfekter Erhaltung von grösster Seltenheit
