Commentaires

The present work was created in the same year that Sigmar Polke was awarded the Lovis Corinth Prize of the Artists' Guild. Polke's works are mostly ironic and witty. Here, too, one could recognise a figure with a long nose and a blue round back. The sheet is probably dedicated to Christian Kämmerling, who founded the magazine of the Süddeutsche Zeitung together with Andreas Lebert in the early 1990s. In November 1995, Sigmar Polke designed the entire issue No. 46

Erläuterungen

Die vorliegende Arbeit ist im gleichen Jahr entstanden, als Sigmar Polke mit dem Lovis-Corinth-Preis der Künstlergilde ausgezeichnet wurde. Die Werke Polkes sind meist ironisch und witzig. Auch hier könnte man eine Figur mit langer Nase und blauem runden Rücken erkennen. Das Blatt dürfte Christian Kämmerling gewidmet sein, der Anfang der 1990er Jahre zusammen mit Andreas Lebert das Magazin der Süddeutschen Zeitung gründete. Im November 1995 gestaltete Sigmar Polke das ganze Heft Nr. 46
