    Comments

During a joint stay at the Swiss Institute in Rome, the classical philologist Alessandra Lukinovich and Rémy Zaugg engaged in an intensive discussion about the ancient type of the flatterer (Kolax). In Plutarch's "Moralia", the question is also discussed, "wie man den Schmeichler vom Freund unterscheidet". The text has been translated countless times over the centuries. Together, they selected fourteen historical translations from which they isolated individual words. Zaugg was likely particularly interested in the fact that Plutarch referred to the bad painter as a flatterer. The words were realized typographically as aquatints. Published and printed in an edition of 15 copies by Editions Média in Neuchâtel.
