    Comments

Even at a young age, during her stay in Paris, Meret Oppenheim came into contact with the Surrealist circle around André Breton. There, in addition to Hans Arp, she also met Alberto Giacometti, twelve years her senior, whose ear she captured in a drawing in 1933. More than twenty years later, Oppenheim revisited her works from her Paris period. Thus, at the end of the 1950s, the first sculptural version of the ear in bronze was created. In 1977, another bronze edition followed in an edition of 500 copies.
